Kiki’s Delivery Service was really good. I feel like having watched the preview so many times, most of the “climax” was given away! It was a sweet film, and though I didn’t like it as much as the other Miyazaki films I’ve seen, I still enjoyed it. A scene that always get me in a movie is when someone is wholly ungrateful of another’s hard work and thought. When Kiki and the old woman spent hours baking that special pie for the woman’s granddaughter only to have the granddaughter groan and complain that she really hated Grandma’s pies I got all upset. It reminded me of that scene from Babe where the old man spent months building this huge doll mansion for his niece only for her to cry and scream that it wasn’t the Barbie one she wanted. That scene has always stuck with me moreso than any other in any movie I’ve seen. I always enthusiastically thank someone for a gift even if I don’t like it because I don’t know how much care or thought was put into picking out that gift. Always be thankful. Anyway, the movie was enjoyable, and Tombo is a total dweeb.
